John Allport is the Vice President, Legal Affairs and
Licensing with IntelliPharmaCeutics. He has been
associated with the Company as its intellectual property
attorney since its inception, and prior to that as counsel
to its principals during their time at Biovail
Corporation.
Intellectual property (IP) is a principal asset of
IntelliPharmaCeutics. It includes drug delivery technology
inventions, patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets
and know-how.
In his capacity as Director of Technology Licensing, Mr.
Allport has responsibility to oversee the creation,
protection, assertion and exploitation of the intellectual
property assets of the Company for its maximum benefit,
consistent with the Company's stated Objectives.
Mr. Allport has in excess of twenty years' experience in
the field of intellectual property law. As an attorney
with the internationally recognized IP firm Messrs. Sim,
Hughes, Ashton & McKay of Toronto, he acted on behalf of
the intellectual property litigation interests of such
clients as Procter & Gamble, Warner Lambert, Corning Glass
Works, Westinghouse Corporation, Teledyne, Raytheon,
Hughes Aircraft, Monsanto Corporation, G.D. Searle and
Swiss Army Brands, and against those of such companies as
Bristol Myers, Bayer, 3M Corporation, Kimberly Clarke,
Blockbuster/Viacom, and Sumitomo Electric.
He has also been engaged to assist in the creation and
exploitation of the extensive IP licensing interests of
such international licensing giants as Walt Disney
Corporation, the Canadian Olympic Association and the
World Wildlife Fund. |
